Allan Henderson in conversation with Duncan & Iain MacGillivray

Allan Henderson presents the very best of folk & roots music from around the world and explores the notion of generational legacy with father and son, Duncan & Iain MacGillivray.

The MacGillivrays have music in their blood. Ex-Battlefield Band bagpiper Duncan MacGillivray received much inspiration during his early years in piping from his father D.P. MacGillivray who was a well established piper and Gold medallist from Ross-Shire. Now with 6 very musical children of his own, Duncan upholds the family legacy through the generations.

Duncan joins Allan with his son and Tannahill Weavers piper, Iain MacGillivray. In 2016, Iain became Scotland's youngest clan commander and the first Scottish chieftain of Clan MacGillivray for 100 years. In conversation about the notion of generational legacy, Allan, Duncan and Iain discuss how music and tradition is passed on within families and how "living tradition" evolves.
