LSO St Luke's Artist Focus: Hakan Hardenberger

Thrilling virtuoso duo Hakan Hardenberger and Colin Currie give a concert recorded at LSO St Luke's of music by Takemitsu, Brett Dean and HK Gruber. Presented by Hannah French.

Hannah French presents this week's final Lunchtime Concert recorded at LSO St Luke's, each shining a spotlight on international wind and brass players. Today, the thrilling virtuoso duo of trumpeter Hakan Hardenberger and percussionist Colin Currie perform a concert of music including a World Premiere of HK Gruber's Passing the Buck.

The duo have been collaborating for over a decade and are a force to be reckoned with. They begin with a work for trumpet and marimba by Mancunian composer Joe Duddell, followed by a work by Swedish composer Tobias Brostrom. Both artists have performed concertos at the 大象传媒 Proms written for them by the Austrian composer HK Gruber, and we'll hear the world premiere of a work called 'Passing the Buck' he has composed for the duo. The concert ends with a work by Brett Dean '.....the scene of the crime.....' written after a long fascination with Shakespeare's Hamlet.
