An eclectic mix of classical favourites selected by Proms artist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, including works in which his instrument, the cello, is featured, like Villa-Lobos' Song of the Black Swann. Other pieces dear to him complete this varied and reflective landscape, among them, Elgar's Sospiri, Shostakovich's Symphony 11, Schumann's String Quartet No. 3, JS Bach's Largo from his Trio Sonata No.5 BWV 529, arranged for piano... plus the spiritual Deep River in the legendary voice of Marian Anderson, Violeta Parra's Gracias a la vida (Thanks to life) in an arrangement for guitar, and music by Seven Eyes, a Jazz band infused with World Music flavours.
