Winter Gardens, Temperate Rainforest and a Dundee Soundwalk

Mark Stephen and Rachel Stewart with stories from the great outdoors.

Mark heads over to Glenan Wood in Argyll to explore a piece of Scotland鈥檚 temperate rainforest with Ian Dow, ACT Woodland Coordinator. He explains why this is such a unique and magical habitat.

Rachel Stewart chats with Doug Gooday, Ranger with Aberdeenshire Council, about Nest Boxes. He explains why this is a good time of year to pop Nest Boxes up into the trees.

The Samhuinn Fire Festival lit up Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh last Monday, in a modern reimagining of the ancient Celtic Festival. Maud Start met with Tom Watton, Festival Coordinator, to find out more about the neo-pagan celebration.

Marine Biologist Elizabeth Mills, otherwise known as Marine Mumbles, has dedicated the past few years to researching Biofouling. Mark went along to St Andrews to find out more about her adventures in the Rockpools, and her studies in Biofouling. They discuss how Elizabeth seeks to educate others along the way, through the creation of informative and fun YouTube videos.

Pupils at Baldragon Academy in Dundee, have been working together the L.A.B Scotland, to create a Sound Walk of their home city. We chat with the 大象传媒鈥檚 Christopher O鈥橰ourke, who worked with them on the project, and hear a little from the finished piece.

Rachel meets with Carole Baxter and Calum Clunie, from The Beechgrove Garden. They guide us in the right direction when it comes to winter garden preparation, and give some tips on how to keep our gardens nature friendly over the cold period.
