Power through with classical music

An eclectic mix featuring music from the Baroque era to the twentieth century, including pieces by Mozart, Lully, Backer Gr酶ndahl, Cage and Leoncavallo.

We start with a piece by Jean-Baptiste Lully, composed for the 1670 comedy-ballet "Le Bourgeois gentilhomme" by Moliere. It is followed by a "Humoresque" solo piano piece by the Norwegian composer Agathe Backer Gr酶ndahl, and some contemporary vocal work by John Cage.

We also listen to Barbara Henricks singing a duet from Andr茅 Messager's operetta "V茅ronique", to cellist Sol Gabetta playing Ernest Bloch's "Prayer" from "Jewish Life", and to a suite by Romantic composer Benjamin Godard for flute and piano.

Finally, Ren茅e Fleming is Mimi in Ruggero Leoncavallo's version of "La boh猫me", before one of W. A. Mozart's Church Sonatas. Cecile McLorin Salvant closes tonight's mixtape with a jazz song entitled "Nothing Like You".
