Abortion laws in Poland

Abortion laws in Poland
Poland's abortion laws, among the most restrictive in Europe, were tightened in 2020. Abortion is now only legal if the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest, or where the mother's life is at risk. Foetal abnormalities were removed from the criteria. Since this was implemented, the number of official abortions in Poland has reduced significantly and there is a feeling that it has endangered the lives of pregnant women. ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ will look at the impact these restrictions are having on women in Poland, the groups which are working to help women access safe abortions, why others support the restrictions and what this reveals about the social and political climate in the country.

Buidseachd

Buidseachd
"Ana-cheartas cho mòr 's a bha riamh ann", sin a thuirt Prìomh Mhinistear na h-Alba mun àireamh dhaoine a chaidh a chur gu bàs anns an dùthaich o chionn còrr is ceithir cheud bliadhna agus e air a chur às an leth gun robh iad ri buidseachd. Tha buidheann-iomairt, Witches of Scotland, a' sireadh maitheanais fon lagh agus airson carragh-chuimhne nàiseanta a thogail dhan 4000 mìle duine a dh'fhuiling. Le bile a' dol tro Phàrlamaid na h-Alba airson an leithid fhaighinn, dè am feum a dhèanadh e? B' e boireannaich a bh' anns a' chuid as motha dhan fheadhainn a bha fo chasaid. Tha luchd-strì airson còirichean bhoireannach den bheachd gu feum dèiligeadh ris na thachair ach an tèid ionnsachadh bhuaithe.

Witchcraft

Witchcraft
On International Women's Day 2022, the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon issued a formal apology to the 4000 people – primarily women – who were tortured and executed under the Witchcraft Act 1563. A Bill has been proposed - Witchcraft Convictions (Pardons) (Scotland) Bill. Campaigners such as the Witches of Scotland are seeking a pardon and a national monument to remember those accused, tortured and executed. This Bill has historical significance for those who feel connected to those who were targeted - predominantly women - and see this is as an unrecognised injustice. It is also relevant for many feminist campaigners who see that "witch hunts" are not completely in the past and feel that the decision to selectively forget this section of history aids misogyny in the current day.
