Sean Paul looks back on Dutty Rock at 20 and why the Jamaica/UK link is so strong.

In 2002 dancehall was running the streets. But despite some mainstream success it hadn’t really crossed over. The MOBO Awards have always supported reggae and dancehall and Sean Paul has won six of them over the years. He reflects on 20 years of the Dutty Rock album, how to have the biggest hit on a riddim. He also remembers what it was like as a Jamaican coming to the UK at the height of the garage years and explains the similarities with Jamaican and UK music – and why he loved making Boasty. And he reveals why he turned down a major film role…
