6 Music Goes back to.....The 80's

It's 80's Music All Day today as 6 Music Goes back to.....The 80's. Steve has a bunch of music from Cocteau Twins, Barrington Levy & an amazing Pulp session track from 1981.

As part of our 6 Music Goes Back…..series we’re spending Thursday focused on the 1980’s playing music from this colourful and influential decade. Steve has a bunch of music from Cocteau Twins, Barrington Levy & an amazing Pulp session track from 1981.

Also, as part of this, we’re putting a spin on our usual 6 Music Album Club by asking artists to remix a seminal record of theirs. Our guests can be as creative as they like with their own work - free to change up the order, tempos and structure of the album. It’s essentially a remix of a classic album of the time – a new piece of work made form their own classic album.

Today, Coldcut have remixed their 1989 debut album ‘What’s the Noise?’ for us. Released in April 1989, the album peaked at No. 20 on the UK Albums Chart and featured the hit single People Hold On with singer Lisa Stansfield.
