Marzena Diakun conducts 大象传媒 NOW

The 大象传媒 National Orchestra of Wales and Marzena Diakun perform Martin暖's Symphony No 3, and pianist Alexandre Tharaud joins for a new 大象传媒 commission, Cara Bali, by Thierry P茅cou.

Conductor Marzena Diakun joins the 大象传媒 National Orchestra of Wales to perform three works drawing inspiration from very different places. Debussy evokes a fanciful realm in his Pr茅lude 脿 'l'apr猫s-midi d'un faune', a masterful impressionist interpretation of the world through the eyes of the titular faun from Mallarm茅's extraordinary poem. In a new 大象传媒 Radio 3 Commission, Thierry Pecou expresses his love of gamelan music and evokes Indonesia in Cara Bali, his new Piano Concerto. The title means "way back" in Malay, and the soloist here is long-time collaborator Alexandre Tharaud. Czech composer Bohuslav Martin暖 may not have written his Third Symphony with America specifically in mind, but it is nevertheless highly evocative of the period in his life that he spent in the USA. He had not written any symphonies before emigrating there, and saw the mastery of that form as crucial to his fortunes in the New World.
