Joining Ken Bruce in this compilation edition of Track of My Years is Madeline Bell, a soul singer who came to the UK from America in the 60s. From her gospel roots she became a much sought after session singer for the likes of Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker and The Rolling Stones and her contemporary and friend Kiki Dee – after a varied solo career she is probably best known for her chart-topping success with the group Blue Mink on hits such as Melting Pot, Good Morning Freedom and Banner Man.
Madeline is just about to star in her 80th birthday concert at London’s Cadogan Hall, featuring her friend Kiki Dee, hosted by Radio 2’s Paul Gambaccini and conducted by Matthew Jones.
