Mica Paris has more of the best gospel that left the church and crossed into the pop charts. Gospel music has been hugely influential in the evolution of pop, rock, R&B, country, hip hop and more, and is still hugely relevant today, with gospel choirs backing many a pop hit.
It's not always been an easy transition for traditional gospel artists to perform secular music. Mica explores further the history of the most trail-blazing artists and explores how artists who didn't grow up in the church would look to the genre for inspiration.
