New funding for Ulster-Scots in Monaghan, Cavan and Donegal, Ballymoney’s tattoo, Gracehill’s mixed community and a hairt-sang

New Irish funding for Ulster-Scots projects, a charity tattoo in Ballymoney, a song to warm the heart of a Rathfriland poet, and the Ulster-Scots blended into Gracehill’s history.

With new funding for Ulster-Scots projects announced by the Irish Government, Helen Mark talks to Ian Crozier of the Ulster-Scots Agency to hear what projects are planned and who is likely to benefit.
Willie Hill pays a visit to Gracehill as the village waits to hear if it’ll become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He’s surprised to hear that the old Moravian community was a hub for many nationalities and cultures – including the Ulster-Scots.
Rab Lennox chats with Drum Major Paula Braiden about the Ballymoney Tattoo coming up at the end of the month- and there’s music too from guest Roy Ferguson who shares a song that touches his heart.
As always, listeners are encouraged to contact the programme if they’ve a good Ulster-Scots yarn, song or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
