Green Shoots: New Music for Spring

A bunch of fresh new folk picked by Mark.

The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond.

This week, Mark picks a bunch of fresh new folk and acoustic releases.

There are tracks from the outer fringes of folk, including a Nick Drake cover by Fontaines D.C. and the first play of music from Rufus Wainwright's forthcoming Folkocracy album.

Tunes come courtesy of Scotland's Assynt, Ireland's Martin Hayes and English guitarist Ben Walker, and there's even a new TV theme performed by Bellowhead.

Unthank:Smith (Rachel Unthank's new collaboration with Paul Smith) get an airing, as do new trio Hack-Poets Guild, which brings together Marry Waterson, Lisa Knapp and Nathaniel Mann.

We hear the latest music by Welsh sibling trio Plu, and a single by Tiree's celtic-pop band Skerryvore.

Traditions come to the fore on songs by Maghera's Jack Warnock and Dartmoor's Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.
