AfriKids is the leading organisation for children in northern Ghana, where more than half of all families live in poverty and 1 in 16 children die before their 5th birthday. Our education, child protection, and health projects are designed and delivered entirely by local people, empowering them to make sustainable changes themselves. Over the last 20 years, we have worked with over 1 million people to ensure some of the world's poorest children are healthy, safe and in school.

“When I looked at our school, it was always bad and I asked, what can I do to help keep this environment clean as a future scientist? I talked to my club members about it and they bought my idea of melting plastics to build something useful"

Not only are girls learning new skills to improve their education & encourage them to stay in school, but they are applying these skills in other areas of their lives. One student now purifies the water her family drinks using a technique learned in STEM club.
