Founded in Oklahoma in 1983, Flaming Lips have been making music for 4 decades - and they have three Grammys to show for it! Their tenth album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots was released in 2002 and became the band’s first gold-certified album. In a belated celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary, Flaming Lips are embarking on a huge world tour. Having kicked things off on Tuesday, they’ll play London once more tomorrow before heading to Manchester, and then on to the United States.
Frontman Wayne Coyne joins Jo to commemorate the anniversary, chat about the world tour, and pick some of his favourite tracks.
