Lauren salutes the musical influence of the Windrush generation with a playlist of music from those who arrived in Britain at that time and their ancestors. 22nd June 2023 marks 75 years since HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain with more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean. From then until 1971 many people from British Commonwealth countries travelled to the UK, encouraged by the 1948 British Nationality Act. However, upon arrival, people were met with difficult living conditions, racism and lack of acknowledgement of their professional skills.
