Slade's Jim Lea is Johnnie's My 70s guest, plus This Week in Music focuses on Bob Marley, and Captain Sensible pays tribute to Tony McPhee from the Groundhogs.

The 1970s may well have sounded very different if Jim Lea hadn鈥檛 picked up a musical instrument.

As bassist, backing vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in Slade in the 70s, Wolverhampton-born Jim co-wrote many of the songs that provided the soundtrack to many a teenage life. With six UK number one hits and 17 consecutive top 20 entries, Slade remain one of the most successful and beloved bands of the decade.

But the band that came before is now being resurrected! As a 16-year-old in the 1960s, Jim auditioned for The N鈥橞etweens, which formed the foundations of Slade. Along with drummer Don Powell, Jim has now put The N鈥橞etweens back together and begun recording with them again.

Jim is Johnnie's My 70s guest this week.

Elsewhere on the show, This Week in Music focuses on Bob Marley, and Captain Sensible pays tribute to Tony McPhee from the Groundhogs. Plus, it's time for choice number 501 on the Jukebox.
