Friday - CPE Bach's Magnificat

The Netherlands Bach Society perform CPE Bach's Magnificat, and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra play JS Bach's Third Orchestral Suite in D. Introduced by Penny Gore.

Penny Gore rounds off another week of recordings from around Europe and from the 大象传媒 performing groups.

Today, son and father feature, as Penny introduces a recording of CPE Bach鈥檚 Magnificat, featuring Netherlands Bach Society under the direction of violinist Shunsuke Sato. Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor V谩clav Luks play Bach鈥檚 Third Orchestral Suite. Steven Osborne is the soloist with the 大象传媒 Philharmonic in Ravel鈥檚 jazz and folk-influenced Piano Concerto, while the 大象传媒 Singers bring music by Isaac Hirshow to the mix. Today鈥檚 featured Dutch composer is Alphons Diepenbrock, and Penny also has a symphony once thought to be the work of Beethoven, but now believed to be the work of one Friedrich Witt.
