From Tipperary to Tripoli - the story of Patrick Ryan former priest and IRA supporter

大象传媒 journalist Jennifer O'Leary on her new book The Padre about Patrick Ryan a former Irish priest and IRA supporter.

"The Padre" tells the story of the notorious former Irish priest and active IRA supporter Patrick Ryan as told by 大象传媒 journalist Jennifer O'Leary. Jennifer made a 大象传媒 Northern Ireland "Spotlight" programme on Ryan in 2019 and this book revisits much of the material she sourced from first hand interviews with Ryan himself.
There's a massive gear change from that remarkable story to "Footloose the Musical" which is being staged in the Millennium Forum, Derry by the Ignite Project, a group of young amateur musical enthusiasts. They will be singing too, including "Let's Hear it for the Boy".
And Ulster University is to lead a multi million pound project that's going to use 3d technology to helping to protect natural habitats. Everything from plastic pollution to improving waste management. It's called the Future Island-Island project. More on that.
And after the News at One, in Twenty Minutes with Mark Patterson, the cost of petrol and diesel has increased as the Irish government has increased excise rates from midnight last night with price rises at 'some' pumps. Will this mean that Northern Ireland drivers might think twice about crossing the border to fill up? And Gareth Austin is already planning for Spring with advice for September bulb planting. It's all on Mark Patterson Show today.
