The race intensifies as the four pairs must leave Pinhão in Portugal’s Douro Valley and navigate 2,000km through Spain and France to the second checkpoint in Bonifacio on the island of Corsica.
The race to Tromsø is under way. The four pairs must leave Pinhão, nestled in Portugal’s Douro Valley, to navigate 2,000km through Spain and France to the second checkpoint in Bonifacio, perched on the stunning island of Corsica. The competing teams are McFly drummer, Harry Judd, with his mum, Emma, British racing driver and pundit Billy Monger and his sister, Bonny, All Saints singer and songwriter Mel Blatt, and her mum, Helene, and broadcaster and weatherman Alex Beresford and his dad, Noel.
These household names, accustomed to luxurious and scheduled travel, will be stripped of their smartphones, internet access and credit cards. The teams must navigate the journey on a tight budget equivalent to what it would cost to travel the route by air. No VIP treatment allowed – the race will be just as arduous and demanding as the regular series.
