John Toal presents the first in our series of Lunchtime Concerts from this year's West Cork Chamber Music Festival, recorded in Bantry, West Cork.

Today's recital opens with Faur茅's Violin Sonata No.1 in A major performed by Irish violinist Mair茅ad Hickey and pianist J茅r茅mie Moreau. Written early in the composer's career over a couple of years from 1875-1876, the work was dedicated to his friend- the French violinist and composer Paul Viardot. To follow, the French pianist C茅dric Tiberghien performs Schumann's- Geister Variations or "Ghost Variations" written in 1854, the final work Schumann wrote before entering the asylum at Endenich. Finally today the Ensemble Diderot perform JS Bach's Harpsichord concerto in D major.
