Book Week, The Letterkenny Literary Festival and The Dream Peninsula in Inishowen
Former Thornhill English teacher, Mary Murphy celebrating book week at her adopted city, A trip to Inishowen, the dream peninsula with Simon Calder and Social Media Sunglasses.
Down the years, few people have given us more craic, stories and laughs on Radio Foyle than former Thornhill English teacher, Mary Murphy. Galwegian by birth, Mary now calls Derry her adopted city 'home'.
Today she talks about her life as a young reader, a drama student, and then finally as a teacher and writer in her own right.
We know Simon Calder as the main travel man in 'The Independent', and he's become a good friend of this part of the world, however, over the summer Simon decided to take himself so far off track that, he writes, "we live on the doorstep of Irelands Dream Peninsula" and Donnan Harvey is the event manager of The Letterkenny Literary Festival which will be officially opened by Sheila Friel this Friday for it's eighth year running.
