When the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021, they closed off access to formal education for girls aged 11 and over. According to Unesco, 80 per cent of school-aged Afghan girls and young women - 2.5 million people - are now out of school. In response, the 大象传媒 World Service created 'Dars or 'Lesson', a TV and radio series in Pashto and Dari. Now, despite the challenges, four female 大象传媒 presenters who fled the country following the Taliban takeover are helping to bring education back to Afghan children. This is their story.
