1981
Wynne Evans and his dog Ginny delve into the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Wales archives of 1981, including Ruth Madoc on the Russell Harty show, Shakin' Stevens and the Welsh Evel Knievel.
Wynne looks back at 1981 and some of the quirky and memorable stories to hit the news that year.
We say Hi-de-Hi to Ruth Madoc on the Russell Harty Show, meet a man who’s dug his own grave - literally - and see Shakin’ Stevens ahead of his show at Cardiff’s New Theatre. Wynne has a go at the best-selling toy of the year, the Rubik's cube, Phillip Madoc plays Lloyd George in the TV drama series about his life, and the Welsh Evel Knievel goes for a world record in Swansea Airport, jumping over 14 cars.
Finally, the event of the year: Prince Charles marries Lady Diana. Wynne remembers the street parties, the dress co-designed by David Emmanuel and the couple’s visit to north Wales.
