Brad Paisley chooses his Tracks Of My Years
Ahead of Radio 2's coverage of Country 2 Country Festival this weekend, Country star Brad Paisley chooses his Tracks of My Years. Plus a new Album and Record Of The Week.
Ahead of Radio 2's coverage of Country 2 Country Festival this weekend, American Country singer, songwriter and guitarist Brad Paisley chooses the songs that soundtrack his life all this week on Tracks Of My Years.
Brad grew up in Glen Dale, West Virginia, playing a guitar his grandad gave him at events around the town. His initial break into the music industry was in the late 90s, where he signed a songwriting contract to write for other stars.
Since debuting as a singer in 1999, Brad has gone on to release twelve studio albums and win countless awards including three Grammys and fourteen Country Music Association Awards, and he has been honoured with membership of the Grand Ole Opry, one of Country music’s crowning achievements
Brad’s new album ‘Son Of The Mountains’ is released later this year, and he’s headlining the Country 2 Country festival, this year at the O2 in London, the OVO Hydro in Glasgow and the SSE Arena in Belfast, from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th March. You'll be able to follow the festival from around the UK live on Radio 2 on Saturday and Sunday as well as listening back on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds.
Brad's first two tracks today come from BB King and The Rolling Stones.
There'll also be more audio nuggets from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Archive in Vernon's Vault; there's a new Record and Album Of The Week; and it's a brand new week for the mid-morning music quiz, Ten To The Top.
Whatever you're up to, Vern wants to hear from you - email vernon@bbc.co.uk - and if you’d like to apply to take part in Ten To The Top, the address you need is tentothetop@bbc.co.uk
