PHONE-IN
According to Road Safety Scotland, recorded cases of handheld devices being used in the car have risen by more than a third compared with pre-pandemic levels in Scotland, despite a drop in other road traffic offences. Research shows drivers are four times more likely to be in a crash if using their phone. Currently offenders face a fine of up to £1,000, six points on their licence and a driving ban.
