Grammy Award winning Mexican singer Lila Downs chats to Cerys ahead of her UK performance at London's Latin Music Festival La Linea.

Born in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Lila began singing traditional Mexican music as a child before singing with mariachi bands. She grew up between Oaxaca, LA and Minesota. She released her debut album in 1994 and has gone on to win the Grammy Award Best Regional Mexican Music Album as well as five Latin Grammys. She is hailed as one of the most influential artists in Latin America. Her music blends traditional Mexican genres with jazz, hip-hop and folk, focusing on social justice with songs in Spanish, English and Native American languages (Zapotec, Mixtec, Nahuatl, Maya and Purepecha).

Plus Cerys hears messages and music from Gavelzton's Robert Kuhn's around the band's new album, Some Kinda Love - a Tribute to The Velvet Underground, which came out on February 23rd 2024 on La Izquierda Records as well as Liam Bailey, who released his latest album Zero Grace on 23rd February via Big Crown Records.

All thing alongside Cerys' handpicked selections, especially for a Sunday morning vibe including Nikki Giovanni, Lossapardo and Innes Loubet.
