Shaun Keaveny sits in, with The Bookshop Band

Shaun Keaveny explores the world of acoustic music with guests The Bookshop Band.

Shaun Keaveny sits in and explores the world of folk and acoustic music.

This week, Shaun is joined by Beth Porter and Ben Please, who talk about their duo: The Bookshop Band.

The Bookshop Band write songs inspired by books, and formed out of a collaboration with Bath shop Mr. B's Emporium of Reading Delights. Since 2010, they have made 13 albums and toured countless venues and independent shops.

Their latest album, Emerge, Return, has been produced by The Who's Pete Townsend. Pete is a big fan of the duo and also plays instruments on the record. The artwork is by Stanley Donwood, renowned for his work with Radiohead.

Emerge, Return features songs inspired by books by authors including Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood, Shaun Bythell, Yann Martel, Carol Birch, Barney Norris, Robert Macfarlane, Charlotte and Emily Bront毛, and Aldous Huxley.

Shaun also plays the usual blend of rootsy sounds including upcoming musicians, overlooked artists, and giants of folk from Britain and beyond.
