Today Stuart marks the 75th anniversary of George Orwell鈥檚 influential novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, exploring the music it has inspired - including David Bowie's - and talking to author Sandra Newman.

As part of the selection of related music Stuart takes a deep dive into David Bowie鈥檚 plans for a 1984 musical which evolved into his 1974 album Diamond Dogs. Stuart talks to writer Sandra Newman, whose recent novel 'Julia' retold the 1984 story from the point of view of its lead female character. They discuss 1984's influence on popular culture from it's publication to present day. With music from artists including Bowie, Radiohead and Stevie Wonder.
