Na h-Eileanan Canàrach

Na h-Eileanan Canàrach
Thadhail 16 millean luchd-turais air Eileanan Canàrach na Spàinne ann an 2023. Tha dùil ri barrachd na sin mus bi 2024 a-mach. Tha turasachd air a bhith na phàirt mhòr de dh'eaconamaidh nan Eilean fad ùine mhòr. Ach, leis a' ghnìomhachas a' fàs a h-uile bliadhna, tha neach-aithris ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹, Ailean Peutan, a' cluinntinn dhraghan gu bheil na Canàraich air crìoch a ruighinn a thaobh cia mheud luchd-turais a thèid aca air a ghabhail.

Am measg nan draghan a tha a' nochdadh: dìth thaigheadais aig prìs reusanta do mhuinntir an àite, milleadh air an àrainneachd, call àiteachan coimhearsnachd, agus cuideam air bun-structar is goireasan.

The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands
Sixteen million tourists visited Spain's Canary Islands in 2023. It is expected 2024's number will be even higher. The islands' economy has long been dominated by tourism, but with the industry growing every year, locals are demanding a reduction in visitor numbers.

Ailean Beaton hears concerns that the Canaries have hit a limit on how many tourists they can welcome. Growing concerns include a lack of affordable housing for locals, damage to the environment, loss of community spaces, gentrification, and pressure on infrastructure and resources.
