Soft Cell legend Marc Almond is the third and final artist in the summer run of Radio 2 Piano Room performances from Maida Vale.
Having shot to fame with Soft Cell in 1979, Marc has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed AND influential artists this country has ever produced. As well as being known for Soft Cell classics such as Tainted Love, Torch and Say Hello, Wave Goodbye, Marc's had great success as a solo artist with songs such as Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart and The Days Of Pearly Spencer.
Tomorrow (July 12th) Marc releases his latest solo album 'I'm Not Anyone', a collection of carefully chosen covers including recent single 'Gone With The Wind Is My Love'. And he'll be heading out on tour in the autumn, starting at Leeds Grand Theatre on the 8th September.
Performing alongside the 大象传媒 Concert Orchestra, Marc will play a classic hit, something brand new, and an unexpected cover. His performance will also be available to hear on 大象传媒 Sounds and watch on 大象传媒 iPlayer.
Also today, broadcaster Clare Balding continues to select the songs that have inspired her in this week's Tracks Of My Years. Earlier in the summer, Clare published her latest book, 'Animal All Stars'. Described as 'a hilarious and fact-packed new non-fiction title', it sees contestants from across the animal kingdom taking part in the ultimate animal sports day!
