An Olympics Special... of sorts!

Ahead of the Olympics, Northern Ireland’s lost gold medal and a victorious pigeon!

Helen Mark presents ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show. This week our Jonnie becomes a sports reporter of sorts, learning about a Dervock born Olympian who won gold in 1912. Listen out for the story as to how he paced his runs! There’s another gold medal winner on the show – or at least the owner of ‘Tommy’s Dream’ chats to Kintra – pigeon trainer Tommy Tweed. Rab has yet another story of a pipe band in an unusual part of the world – this time he puts a call into Shanghai. Meanwhile, Willie Hill has a historical gem from Whitehead.
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
