Britten’s War Requiem from the Proms

Music by Debussy inspired by the events of the First World War plus Britten’s War Requiem with the London Symphony Orchestra and Antonio Pappano from the Proms.

Today’s Classical Live, introduced by Linton Stephens, adopts a serious and reflective tone with two contrasting works inspired by the events of the First World War. A late suite for two pianos by Debussy prefaces a performance of Britten’s War Requiem given by the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and a formidable line-up of soloists under Sir Antonio Pappano, recorded last week at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms.
