Wetherby 19
Jonathan Pratt and Philip Serrell guide two teams around an antiques fair in Wetherby, while Caroline learns about our fascination with hats in days gone by.
Caroline Hawley is on the hunt for hats in Yorkshire. In Leeds, she admires a collection of miniature hats created by 19th century hatter John Craig. These bijou bonnets, bowlers and top hats are tiny replicas of the real thing and demonstrated the maker’s skill and expertise.
Hoping to get ahead on the show are two teams of antique hunters. Diagnosing a win are doctors and married couple Gareth and Linda, but can they buy and sell as well as retailers Natalie and Steph?
With Philip Serrell by their side, the medics spot what looks like a Gladstone bag. It’s not an open and shut case though, so they move on. Over with the blues, expert Jonathan Pratt picks up a miner’s yardstick, but having got the measure of it, the stick goes on the back burner.
Ultimately, their fate lies in the hands of Ripon auctioneer David Elstob and the bidders in the saleroom!
