The Shetland-born saxophonist Josephine Davies takes us around her record collection

鈥楻ound Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.

Josephine Davies is a leading UK saxophonist and composer, who blends classical, jazz and folk traditions, with influences from her Shetland roots. Josephine won the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year in 2019, and has continued to build her reputation as a formidable bandleader with her Satori trio and big band The Enso Ensemble.

From Tuesday to Friday this week, Josephine is sharing some of the albums that continue to inspire her, for our 4/4 section. Starting off her selections, Josephine chooses a record from UK jazz legend Stan Tracey.

Plus, music from Sean Khan and the Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble, Plumm and MA.MOYO, and The Lewis Express.
