Then Blackbeard and his men show up, and Hannyabal is easily defeated. Luffy recognizes Blackbeard from Jaya but is shocked to find out that he is the man who captured Ace. Blackbeard goes on to tell Luffy that Ace had fought him to protect his little brother from being targeted by him (Blackbeard), who was after a position in the Shichibukai. Unable to contain his fury, Luffy attacks him with Jet Pistol.
