Then Dogra comes back from town after he witnesses the Tenryubito鈥檚 attack on Sabo鈥檚 ship. Ace and Luffy are devastated, and Dadan has Ace tied to a tree so that he wouldn鈥檛 do anything stupid, like trying to get revenge on the World Noble. Then Ace receives a letter from Sabo, which he sent out before he set sail. Sabo asks Ace to take care of Luffy until they meet again someday on the seas. Ace and Luffy promise each other that they will one day become pirates and live a life without regrets.
