In the Riku Royal Army Rebellion headquarters, Thunder Soldier starts recounting what happened on Dressrosa 10 years ago. Ten years ago, Dressrosa was a peaceful kingdom ruled by King Riku III, who was loved and trusted by the citizens. But one night, Doflamingo shows up in Riku鈥檚 bedroom and claims himself as Dressrosa鈥檚 rightful king. Doflamingo gives Riku an ultimatum鈥攂uy Dressrosa for 10 billion berries or fight for it. Not wanting bloodshed, Riku chooses to pay him 10 billion berries. He has no choice but to collect the money from the citizens. The citizens are puzzled but happily give up their fortune for their king. But suddenly, Riku, his body manipulated by Doflamingo鈥檚 Devil Fruit power, rides into town, puts the town on fire, and starts slaughtering the citizens.
