Cha-cha-cha
The most recognisable rhythm in dance: one, two, cha-cha-cha. Donald takes the final steps in his weeklong whirl around the world of ballroom dancing.
Donald Macleod takes a whirl around the world through the music of ballroom dancing, in celebration of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3’s Day of Dance on Friday 8th November. With the help of Hilary French, author of Ballroom: A People’s History of Dancing, Donald waltzes across Viennese ballrooms, foxtrots through New York clubs, tries the tango in the arrabales of Buenos Aires, sambas on the streets of Salvador and finally cha-cha-chas his way to Havana.
In today's final installment, Donald takes to the clubs of Cuba to learn how the danzón-mambo evolved into the most recognisable rhythm in ballroom dance: two, three, cha-cha-cha.
