Milton's world

Extracts from poems and prose set to music to mark the death of John Milton on 8 Nov 1674.

Milton's father was a chorister and noted amateur musician. Milton's poem Paradise Lost has inspired an opera from Penderecki. To mark 350 years since Milton's death, we hear extracts from his prose and poetry alongside music he might have heard and music evoking the themes of his writing.
