Shepton Mallet 3
The red and blue teams shop for bargains in Somerset, and Christina Trevanion learns about the history of the typewriter.
Christina Trevanion meets a man with a collection to really write home about! Nick Fisher from Swindon has several hundred antique typewriters, including one that dates from 1879 and a rare model built to type messages using ciphers.
Today’s teams are shopping at a huge antiques fair in Shepton Mallet in Somerset, where they have 60 minutes on the clock to find three profitable bargains. Caroline Hawley skippers the red team, granddaughter Emily and grandmother Lin, while Thomas Forrester captains the blues, energetic pals Ben and Nick.
The reds waste no time bagging their first item, but when they spot a naval flag, they are not sure if it will fly with the bidders. And on the blue team, Nick comes up with a catchphrase that they adopt as their slogan – but will it pay off at the auction?
