A growing human population is putting pressure on the iconic Galapagos giant tortoises, contaminating their habitats with plastic pollution and other harmful waste which is then being eaten by the tortoises.

Giant tortoises are vital 'ecosystem engineers', dispersing seeds, shaping the landscape and helping other wildlife to flourish. By boosting tortoise numbers we can repair damaged ecosystems, rewild islands and allow nature to thrive.

We are training a new generation of Galapagos-born conservationists and supporting the Young Tortoise Protectors, who are cleaning up litter and sounding the alarm when tortoises wander into urban areas.
