Good morning. Yep! I’ve done it again. I have woken up just after 5am and what should have been a properly managed and evenly distributed workload over a week or so has been left to what feels like the final hours. I take my duties very seriously!Â
I have to get through that 250-plus page document of reports besides navigating multiple high-stake engagements scattered throughout the day. I also ‘need’ my prayers. I need to read my portion of the Qur’an, reflect on my life mission statement and get my head ready for a challenging day.Â
A thought of tranquillity comes into mind and it says: you have to accept that you can’t always do it all and have it all, all the time. But let’s do the little things that do matter and can make that key difference. The things that give us that feeling that we are ok and that tomorrow’s a new day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Instead of reading my full portion, I read a page or two. I remind myself ‘family first’; I message my mum.Â
The meetings go overwhelmingly positively and I contribute to the discussion of the mammoth document. I’m really pleased and grateful.
My Lord, lighten our loads for us. Bless us in our time, our health, families and communities. Grant us the vigour and energy to be active agents taking control of our lives and facing our problems and challenges - no matter how insurmountable they seem - one step at a time. Amin.
