The citizens of Wano, who learn that they had been protected by Oden all along, cheer him on and ardently hope that he鈥檇 survive the hour of boiling. In the pot of boiling oil, Oden, who is sure that Orochi and Kaido will kill him that very day, entrusts his wish to open up Wano to his retainers. Oden endures the appointed one hour in the boiling oil and hurls his men out of the pot. Orochi reneges on his promise and attacks the Akazaya samurais who flee to carry on their master鈥檚 will. Oden recalls his life, his family, his voyage with Whitebeard and Roger. When Kaido shoots him in the end, he sinks into the boiling oil with a big smile on his face.
