Matt Baker and Margherita Taylor are visiting Romney Marsh in Kent, known for its sweeping skies, marshland and shingle beaches, and at this time of year home to tens of thousands of wintering birds.
Margherita is at RSPB Dungeness to help the team set up special fencing in the reserve's lakes to help protect nesting birds from predators, and see how nature is reclaiming the huge concrete sound mirrors built after the First World War.
Matt Baker unearths the history of farming on the marshes and spends the day with a sixth-generation farming family and their flock of a thousand Romney sheep. We also meet an artist who gets his inspiration from the shingle beach at Dungeness, where he lives, and an enthusiastic local birder who is looking to spot the distinctive flight of the magnificent marsh harrier.
Adam is in Glasgow at the 大象传媒 Food and Farming Awards 2024, revealing the winner of the Countryfile Young Countryside Champion award.
