Episode 3
Ben and Kate serve Christmas dinner to a family of lions, but will there be any leftovers on Boxing Day?
We are catching up with the fennec fox kits that were born last summer. Named Dot and Other, they are the first fennec fox babies to make it this far, thanks to the incredible efforts of the keepers hand-rearing them. As their first Christmas approaches, the keepers are nervous as they hope the youngster’s mother, Yuri, may be ready to pick her role as mother. Sadly, animal introductions such as these often don’t go to plan, so the keepers must think very carefully about initiating a Christmas reunion.
Over in lion country, it’s a different story – their family dinner is in full-swing, and Ben and Kate are the masters of ceremony overseeing the feast! The keepers have arranged the ultimate Christmas lunch for a huge pride of lions ruled by males Klaus and Simba. A tree trunk has been decorated with animal hide, and on top of this ‘table cloth’ is a smorgasbord of meats for them to enjoy. The moment the lions come out they tear into the feast, vying for the best bits. Will everyone get a slice of the action and will there be any leftovers on Boxing Day?
Elsewhere at the park, Megan meets a natural-born nutcracker, while Hamza makes friends with a camel from afar.
