Radio 3 across Europe: the Vienna Symphony Orchestra play Tchaikovsky

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including Tchaikovsky鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 1 recorded in the Konzerthaus, Vienna.

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by 大象传媒 orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

As part of Radio 3鈥檚 travels across Europe this week, today we focus on Vienna, one of the great centres of classical music making. We鈥檒l hear music by Viennese composers Alexander Zemlinsky and Johanna M眉ller-Hermann, plus Ravel鈥檚 hommage to Schubert - another of the city鈥檚 musical sons - performed by Seong-Jin Cho. And our 2pm centrepiece comes from the city鈥檚 Konzerthaus, where the Vienna Symphony Orchestra opened its 125th season earlier this year with pianist Anna Vinnitskaya performing Tchaikovsky鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 1.
