Journalist, author and broadcaster Kevin Le Gendre sits in for Soweto Kinch on 鈥楻ound Midnight - Radio 3's nightly look at jazz from all styles and eras, with a particular focus on new UK artists.

He presents concert highlights from bassist and composer Daniel Casimir, recorded live on 鈥楻ound Midnight鈥檚 curated stage in the Barbican Foyer, back in November as part of the London Jazz Festival 2024.

Daniel was joined by his quintet featuring saxophonist Chris Maddock, trumpeter Sean Gibbs, pianist James Beckwith and drummer Jamie Murray. Together they delivered a powerhouse selection of music from Daniel鈥檚 latest album Balance.

Tonight concludes a series of three Friday night programmes spotlighting live performances from that concert. The previous two Fridays on 鈥楻ound Midnight have featured live highlights from harpist Marysia Osu, and vocalist and guitarist Lau Noah respectively.
