Africa Eye鈥檚 film, 鈥淥ur Land, Our Life鈥 is a powerful, personal journey which reveals the story of Kenya鈥檚 armed struggle for independence, and includes evidence of atrocities committed by the British while fighting the insurgency.

Wanjugu Kimathi, the daughter of the leader of the Mau Mau rebellion, Dedan Kimathi, searches for her father鈥檚 remains while fighting for land rights for forgotten veterans of the anti-colonial struggle. Through the eyes of Kimathi鈥檚 widow, Mukami Kimathi, and the voices of Mau Mau fighters, the film tells their stories of British colonial rule, and the ongoing trauma of those who believe justice is still denied. We see Wanjugu fight for land for the Mau Mau descendants and hear her plea for Dedan Kimathi鈥檚 remains to be returned and buried with honour.
