Scotland have never won this tournament in the modern format, but an impressive autumn and a squad developing in terms of skill and experience mean that Gregor Townsend鈥檚 side have genuine title aspirations at the outset of this year鈥檚 competition.

They begin against a vastly improved Italy, who shocked Scotland in Rome in 2024 to win their first home game in the Six Nations in more than a decade. Scotland, though, have not lost at home to Italy in ten years and will be desperate to begin their campaign with a convincing win.
